We will provide you with a sample tour schedule for you to use when visiting tourist spots in Aizu. (If you click links, it will jump to the location area page) Bushido Experience Course (In this course, you will visit historical sites related to the Byakkotai and Shinsengumi) ●Aizu Wakamatsu City Course● (In this course, you can visit main historical sites and places famous for cherry blossoms in the spring) Aizu Wakamatsu Station → → Sightseeing Circulation Bus → Tsuruga Castle (Famous for its cherry blossoms. Inside the castle is a museum) → → Sightseeing Circulation Bus → Oyakuen Garden (You can enjoy powdered green tea and medicinal tea） → → Sightseeing Circulation Bus → Mt. Iimori (You can see many artifacts related to the Byakkotai) → → Sightseeing Circulation Bus → Aizu Buke Yashiki (Samurai House, at this popular site you can see a restored samurai barracks) → → Sightseeing Circulation Bus → Tombs of the Lords of Aizu Clan, Matsudaira Family (You can see the tombs of the lords of the Aizu Clan) → → Walk → Tomb of Isami Kondo (The tomb of the leader of the Shinsengumi) → → Sightseeing Circulation Bus → Higashiyama Hot Spring (You refresh yourself by bathing in a hot spring) → →Aizu Wakamatsu Station Sightseeing Circulation Bus“Haikara-san”and ”Akabe” The city operates two buses (“Haikara-san” and “Akabe”) with routes to the various tourist spots around the city. If you get an “Aizu Grutto Card”,you can ride the bus as many times as you like for two days. Please use it when you visit Aizu Wakamatsu City. ●Inawashiro course● (In this course, you will visit places famous for their cherry blossoms) Aizu Wakamatsu Station→ → 30 minutes on a Banetsu Saisen Train → Inawashiro Station → → Taxi (5 min.) → Hanitsu Shrine (Enshrines the first loard of Aizu Clan) → → Five minutes Walk → Iwahashi Shrine (You can see the famous cherry blossom tree,Ohjika Zakura) → → 15 minutes Walk → Kamega Castle (The oldest castle in Japan, it is very famous for its cherry blossoms) → → 15 minutes on Aizu Bus Bandai Toto Bus → Inawashiro Station → → 30 minutes by Banetsu Saisen Train → →Aizu Wakamatsu Station Visiting places of worship course (In this course, you will visit historical sites related to Buddhism) ●Kitakata Course● (Here you can enjoy Kitakata Ramen as well) Aizu Wakamatsu Station→ → 30 minutes drive → Kitakata Station → → Walk or take a sightseeing carriage → Sightseeing in the city (You can go to ramen shops and visit sake storehouses) → → 10 minutes drive → Kumano Shrine and Nagatoko (Unique wooden building) → → 20 minutes drive → Shoujoji Temple (Old temple which represents Tohoku Area) → → 10 minutes drive → Shiokawa Station (The town is famous for the curtains hanging in the entrances to local shops and restaurants) → → 15 minutes drive → →Aizu Wakamatsu Station ●Bandai Course● (This course is to visit those sake cellars which use the famously pure local water) Aizu Wakamatsu Station→ → 15 minutes drive → Bandai-machi Station → → 5 minutes drive → Enichiji Temple (he birthplace of Aizu's Buddhist culture) → → 30 min. walk → Bandai Nishi Sanroku Yusui-gun (selected as one of the nation’s top 100 famous water spots) → → 5 min. drive → Michi-no-Eki Bandai (place where you can buy local produce and have something to eat) → → 10 min. drive → Aizu Mura Park (This park is famous for the Aizu Jibo Kannon) → → 15 min. drive → →Aizu Wakamatsu Station ●Misato Course● (There are many places to go when flowers are blooming) Aizu Wakamatsu Station→ → 30 minutes drive → Isasumi Shrine (The origin of the name “Aizu”. There is Ayame En (Iris Park) is located in) → → Five minutes walk → Miyakawa Senbon Zakura (Cherry Blossoms standing on a street along the river) → → 10 minutes drive → Hoyoji Temple (There is a Famous Cherry Blossom, Tora no O Zakura) → → 10 minutes drive → Chitose Zakura (The age of this Cherry Blossom is more than 700 years) → → 20 minutes drive → Aizu Information Center (you can see around 100 works of local pottery-"Aizu-Hongo Yaki" - here) → → 10 minutes walk → Mukai Haguro-san Shiroato (The historical site features an old castle which is covered in azalea) → → 30 minutes drive → →Aizu Wakamatsu Station Enjoying the Nature Course (You can enjoy the nature of Aizu) ●Ura-Bandai Course● (This is a course for bathing at hot spring facilities) Aizu Wakamatsu Station→ → 30 minutes on a Banetsu Saisen Train → Inawashiro Station → → 30 minutes on a Bandai Toto Bus → Goshiki Swamp (There are various colorful lakes/swamps) → → Catching a Bandai Toto Bus or “Mori no Kumasan Go” → Mt. Bandai Eruption Memorial Museum (You will see many items dating from the eruption of Mt. Bandai) Going around the Lake Hibara (This lake was formed when Mt. Bandai erupted) → → 20 minutes on a Bandai Toto Bus → LAVIE SPA Ura-Bandai (Hot spring resort with great sports facilities) → → 40 minutes on a Bandai Toto Bus → Kitakata Station → → 30 minutes on a Banetsu Saisen Train → →Aizu Wakamatsu Station Going Around the Lake Hibara Retro Bus “Mori no Kumasan Go” “Mori no Kumasan Go” goes around the Lake Hibara, which takes one and half hour. This bus uses automobile fuel refined from tempura oil, which was collected from local houses and lodges. By using this fuel, this bus does not emit much carbon dioxide and is very environmental friendly. (Please check the bus time schedule) If you use an“Aizu Grutto Card”を, you can ride this bus as many times as you like for two days. ●Bandai Inawashiro Course● (You can try the famous local soba) Aizu Wakamatsu Station→ → Minazuru-go (30 min.) → Nisshinkan School (This is a facility which the old school of Aizu Clan was restored) Aizu Mura Park (This park is famous for the Aizu Jibo Kannon) → → 10 minutes on an Aizu Bus → Kowashimizu (This place is famous for soba) → → 25 minutes on an Aizu Bus → Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Museum (The original house of famous bacteriologist Hideyo Noguchi is preserved) → → Walk → Walking around the Lake Inawashiro (In Summer, the lake is crowded with people who enjoy marine sports) → → 15 minutes on an Aizu Bus → Inawashiro Station → → 30 minutes on Banetsu Saisen Train → →Aizu Wakamatsu Station ●Shimogo Cours● (In this course, you will visit a rest area in old days and hot spring areas) Aizu Wakamatsu Station→ → a 30 min. drive → Ashinomaki Hot Spring (Used as a hot spring therapy from the Edo Era) → → 20 minutes drive → Ohuchijuku (This town still has the atmosphere of ancient resting area from the Edo Era) → → 20 minutes drive → To-no-hetsuri (You can enjoy the beautiful view of lush scenery) → → a 5 min. drive → Yunokami Onsen Station (This station building has a thatched roof and is a famous spot for viewing cherry blossoms in the spring) → → a 40 min. drive → →Aizu Wakamatsu Station
