Ohi-ichi (One Day Markets)

Through the summer from the 1st of July to the 8th of September, a number of small one day street markets are held in various parts of the city of Aizu-Wakamatsu. At these markets you can usually find stalls selling food such as fried noodles, yakitori etc. Townfolk get together to carry portable shrines and Bon Odori dances are organized at these events. In all there are 45 one day markets in the summer.
