Ishibe Cherry Tree

This is a 600 year old cherry tree which stands in the middle of a patch of arable land in the Aizu-Wakamatsu suburb of Ikki machi. It is 11.5 meters high and has a girth at its base of 2.7 meters. Eight thick trunks spread out in all directions from the base of the tree. In mid April when its light pink cherry blossoms are in full bloom it is a wonderful sight.
