Enichi Temple Site
The eminent priest Tokuichi, who sought to spread Buddhism among the common people, founded the temple in 807. In its heyday, the temple was said to have had 300 priests, several thousand soldier-priests, and 3,800 branch temples. The historical sites that have survived numerous wars include the main hall and Tokuichi's gravestone. The Buddhist treasures have been designated an important cultural property.
